     About Me

Shalom friend!

What a grace to welcome you to this corner of the internet.

I’m an author and speaker from Yakima in the heart of Washington State. No Seattle rain or traffic here… We receive about 300 days of sun a year. I grew up here, left to explore the world, and returned in 2005.

What makes my heart skip a beat: rich coffee and European chocolate, hopping on a plane for an adventure, a fresh issue of Bible Archeology Review, and the color orange. I delight in viewing art and creating it. When I open a book, historical fiction is my fave genre. But the Bible is the book that excites my heart the most.

My family’s dynamics aren’t a straight-forward story but here goes: I am happily married to my wonderful hubby, Tom, and mom to my almost-man, Mitchell, and two adopted girlies, Carol Anne and Ella Rose – with adult bonus children and grandchildren thrown in! It feels like an extended-extended family – and I love it!

Spiritually, I am obsessed with all things Jesus. I grew up believing, walked away in college, and re-dedicated my life to Him after going through a divorce. My faith life looks like this – I firmly believe that the Word of God is 100% true. I love to ponder how our one God is three persons: Father God, Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. And I believe Jesus is the key to all of it – because he sacrificed his life for our sins, belief in Him is the door to eternal life in the presence of God forever! Hooray!

My favorite Bible verse is Psalm 91:4 from the Psalm of Protection. “He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.” (NIV) In fact, it is the verse the inspired me to create The Refuge Women’s Bible Study Community. I love that God uses a soft, delicate feather to demonstrate to us His protective, sheltering power. I have discovered that tucked under the tender wings of God is the safest place to be and long to encourage others to let their faith soar.

I began writing after I went to Israel for the first time in 2015. The Bible suddenly was rich with colors, tastes, and smells. As I flew home, I put words on paper regarding what I learned about God during that precious time in the Holy Land and haven’t stopped writing, studying, or talking about it since. Connecting people to the Bible in its original context and the lands where it all took place is my jam.

I’ve spent the past few years learning the craft of writing and speaking through Flourish Writers Academy, speaking training from Amy Carroll, and invested two years podcast producing as an intern for Denise Pass and her Seeing Deep ministry.  Currently, I’m part of the Red House Collective and am working towards a Hebraic Context of the Bible certification program with the Israel Institute for Biblical Studies.

Thank you for visiting! I hope someday we can sit down in a quaint coffee shop together. Until then, I hope you leave this space encouraged and determined to let your faith soar as you find refuge in the Lord.

From Under His Wings,
